What is the difference between talk therapy and art therapy?
Talk therapy mainly uses words and dialogue. Art therapy adds a visual, non-verbal dimension. Colours, shapes and images can express what is often difficult to put into words, making inner experiences visible and tangible.

Do I need to be good at art?
No. Artistic skill is not required. Even simple lines, colours or textures can carry meaning. The focus is on expression and discovery, not on producing a “beautiful” result.

What is the difference between talk therapy and art therapy?
Art therapy can support people in times of stress, crisis, or change. It can also be helpful for those living with acute or chronic illness, and for anyone seeking self-reflection, resilience, or personal growth.

What if I don’t want to show my artwork to others?
That is completely fine. Sharing is always voluntary. The act of creating is often powerful in itself, even if you keep the image private.

Why does art therapy work?
Art therapy works because images are closely connected to emotions and memories. The creative process involves both body and mind. It can help release tension, access deeper layers of experience, and create new pathways for insight and healing.

How can art therapy help me if I usually prefer words?
Art and language complement one another. Many participants find that once an image is created, it becomes easier to find words for feelings or experiences. Sometimes the picture “speaks” first, and language follows.

Is art therapy suitable for children as well as adults?
Yes. Children often find it natural to express themselves through images and play. For adults, art therapy can reconnect them with forgotten resources from childhood and open new perspectives for the present.

How does biography play a role in art therapy?
Biography-based art therapy explores your life story through creative expression. By looking at childhood memories, family patterns, and key life events, you can recognise hidden influences and discover new directions for the future.
